A. Policy for requesting birth, marriage, divorce, and death records

Belize has a single, nationwide repository of civil registration record under the Attorney General’s Ministry. Records are also held at the local level in municipalities. Belize has a website for forms individuals may use at https://mfa.gov.bz/vital-statistics-forms/.

B. Procedure for requesting birth, marriage, divorce, and death records

1. Office to contact

Contact the Attorney General’s Ministry (AGM) or local civil registration offices or municipality where the event took place or state civil archives for birth, marriage, and death records. Contact the district court where the divorce was granted. Individuals may also visit the Registry on the ground floor of the Supreme Court Building at the corner of Regent Street and Treasury Lane, Belize City.

2. Birth records

Include the following information in requests for birth records:

    Full name of child at birth

  • •

    Sex of child

  • •

    Date and place of birth

  • •

    Names of the parents, including the maiden surname

  • •

    Names of the parents of a single parent

  • •

    Address at the time of birth

3. Fee

  • •

    Birth and adoption - $3.50 U.S.

  • •

    Death records - $3.50 U.S.

  • •

    Divorce records - $7.25 U.S.

  • •

    Marriage records - $6.00 U.S.
