A. Introduction to vital statistics records in Colombia

Colombia has no single, nationwide repository of civil registration records. Records are held at the municipality (if there is a notary's office) or at the local level in the office of the mayor in the town (where there are no public notaries in the municipality).

B. Procedure for requesting birth, marriage, divorce, and death records

1. Office to contact

For birth, marriage, and death records, contact the municipality or the office of the mayor, depending on if there is a public notary in the municipality where the event occurred. For divorce records, contact the Family Court in which the event took place.

    Divorce records - $300.00 Col. per page.
