Australia does not pay social security benefits to wives or husbands in life claims.
They do pay a supplement to a retired worker who has a qualified child(ren). If a
worker receiving a supplement for his child(ren) dies, an application has to be filed
to entitle the child(ren). Australia does not automatically convert to death benefits.
Australia does pay widow(er)'s benefits but an application must be filed.
