GN 01745.105 Effective Date of the U.S. - Japanese Agreement

A. Introduction

The agreement with Japan became effective October 1, 2005.

B. Policy

Periods of U.S. and Japanese Social Security coverage a worker earned prior to October 1, 2005 may be used to establish entitlement to U.S. or Japanese Totalization benefits. However, the earliest possible month of entitlement to such benefits is 10/2005.
