All DRS disability determinations on railroad claims in which medical factors are considered and all joint freeze disability determinations prepared by the RRB (countersigned by the DRS examiner) are subject to review.
The sample is selected by the DRS.
After the SSA-831-U5/SSA-833-U5 is signed by the DRS, and
Before any action is taken to effectuate the determination or release notices.
Claims excluded from quality review are:
Technical denials
ALJ, Appeals Council, and court decisions
Foreign claims
Title XVI portion of concurrent title II-XVI determinations
Unilateral freeze claims
Critical claims
Congressional claims
NOTE: Technical denials include those claims where claimant died in the waiting period etc.
