If new address is in file, insert the remark “Remailed
(date)” immediately below the date shown on the returned letter or in the upper portion of
the form. Annotate the left side of the file (in the bottom margin of the appropriate
document or the inside of the claims folder) to show the type of letter or form remailed
and the date. Prepare an envelope and remail the letter and any enclosure to the new
address.
If a new address is not in file, insert the remark “Remailed
(date)” immediately below the date shown on the returned letter or in the upper portion of
the form. Annotate the left side of the file (as indicated above) to show the type
of letter, notice, or form remailed, and the date. Prepare an envelope and remail
the letter or form and any enclosure to the same address. Place a red “X” in the lower left corner of the envelope to identify the item as a remail to the
same address.
If the remailed form is again returned as undeliverable, use the Processing Center
Action Control System (PCACS) to request assistance from the servicing DO.
If the DO advises that the claimant cannot be located, file the various forms and
notices on the right side of the claims folder annotated “Undeliverable”.
