Effective March 1, 2007, the Florida State Office of Vital Statistics will issue computer certifications for marriage and divorce events that occurred beginning in 1970. These certifications are abstracts of original records on file in the state office and will be printed on safety paper. Photocopy certifications of marriage and divorce records will still be available, if requested. The computer certifications issued for marriages and divorces that occurred before 2005 may contain asterisks. If asterisks appear, the data item was either not on the certificate or not keyed into the database.

Beginning in July 2008, the Florida Office of Vital Statistics issues two variations of computer birth certifications. One is the current computer birth certification issued for events occurring prior to 2004. The other is a computer birth certification for events taking place between 2004 and the present, and it is an abstract of original records on file in the state office. It contains the following additional information not found on the computer birth certification issued for events prior to 2004: time of birth; birth weight; place of birth, including city; and parents' dates and places of birth. Photocopy certifications of birth records are still available if requested. .
