The State office has marriage records beginning April 1867. Additional copies of the
                  same birth or death record requested at the same time are $5.00 each. Except for Detroit,
                  a recent birth record can more quickly be obtained from the appropriate city or county
                  clerk. However, records for adopted children before 1980 or illegitimate children
                  before 1979 are available only from the Vital Statistics Section.
               
               Additional year searches over the initial three years cost $12.00 and if expeditious
                  handling is needed, an extra $10.00 is charged.
               
               There is a six-month waiting period before an event is recorded and verification of
                  paternity affidavits are not available for approximately four months.
               
               A written application is required to request a Michigan vital record. To obtain an

               The parallel field office has a budget allocation to obtain verifications of records
                  when conditions in GN 00301.210 are met.
