Complete and send the SSA-3606 to the Railroad Retirement Board (RRB) when:

We erroneously certify an award to Treasury, or
-
•
Informational/Certified Earnings Record (ICER) or other forms contain the following
annotations: RRB annuitant, RRB spouse, or Appl for RRB Survivors.
When sending an SSA-3606 to RRB for an initial claim, annotate in the remarks section
of the award, “SSA-3606 to RRB and the date.”
NOTE: Enter “Non-RR Certification Case” under the heading “Notice to RRB of SSA Benefit
Information.” Either the field office (FO) or processing center (PC) technician will
complete and send the SSA-3606 to the RRB, depending on who identifies the error.
