A response is due within 14 calendar days from the date of receipt of a non-congressional
inquiry (i.e., an inquiry from public officials other than U.S. Congress members,
such as state and local officials).
A final reply is due within 20 calendar days after the date of the acknowledgement.
If the DDS cannot make a final reply within that time period, DDS personnel must send
an interim response in place of the final response until a final response can be provided.
Make any subsequent communication, whether interim or final, within 30 calendar days
after the date of the prior reply to the inquirer.
