RS 00615.595 Computing the Widow(er)'s Benefit — Reduction Factor Adjustment — Dual Entitlement to DIB Before or Concurrent With WIB

A. POLICY

When WIB follows or is concurrent with DIB, the age 62 ARF involves the same method as the AB dual entitlement reduction factor adjustment.

NOTE: An ARF is not applicable when WIB follows or is concurrent with Medicare for Qualified Government Employment (MQGE) entitlement.

B. PROCEDURE

The adjusted reduction factor is applied to the excess of the WIB PIA over the DIB PIA. Because the WIB FRA and RIB FRA can occur in different months, an ARF may be due at WIB FRA, followed by removal of all WIB reduction when DIB converts to RIB at RIB FRA..
