When an SSA-24 (Application for Survivors Benefits) is filed, an award, disallowance
or duplicate claim action must be taken for each claimant. Unless a prior claim has
been forwarded to the processing center (PC), include a certified earnings record
when forwarding the SSA-24 to the PC. In some cases this will require assignment of
an SSN to disallow the SSA-24.
