RM 01310.017 How We Derive the Data for Disability and Survivors Benefit Estimates

A. Introduction

This section is limited to an explanation of how the system derives certain information used to provide disability and survivors benefit estimates on the Social Security Statement.

B. Policy

Policies covering these data are found in RM 01310.005C. They explain how the date the Statement system is prepared is used as the assumed date of onset for the disability benefit calculation and as the assumed date of death for calculating the survivor benefit estimates. (See RS 00605.000.)

C. Process

The Statement system uses the Modernized Claims Systems' General Insured Status Utility (GINSU) to calculate these benefit estimates.
