RM 03254.014 Correspondence Received from the Public Indicating Congressional, Presidential, Secretarial,
or Commissioner Involvement (4403)
Correspondence may be received from an individual who indicates that he or she has
written to a Member of Congress, the President, the Secretary, or the Commissioner,
either by direct statement or “cc” annotation, or by enclosing a copy of a letter
to one of these officials.
Correspondence may also be received from an individual who indicates that he or she
intends to write to one of the above officials. Process these types of correspondence
as indicated below.
Individual indicates that he or she has written to a higher official:

Immediately upon receipt, forward the correspondence to the Office of Public Inquires.

Do not attempt to process the correspondence.
Individual indicates that he or she intends to write to a higher official:

Refer the request, immediately upon receipt to your immediate supervisor for handling.

Process as indicated by your supervisor, who would then forward the correspondence
to the Division of Training and Program Support (DTPS).
