TN 9 (02-85)
Discrepancies occasionally arise with BC's recorded in January. Due to common clerical error, the year of recordation shown is often one year different from the correct year of recordation.
A person allegedly born on 12/27/22 may have a BC that shows 1/10/22 as the recordation date rather than the correct date of 1/10/23.
In such situations, it is clear that either the DB or the recordation date is incorrect.
To avoid unnecessary development to resolve this discrepancy, assume that the year of recordation was actually one year later than the recordation date shown if:
The year of birth and the year of recordation shown on the BC are the same, and
The recordation date precedes the DB, and
The recordation month is January, and
The alleged DB agrees with the DB shown on the BC.
No documentation or further development is required.
