   GN 01050.100 General - Transfer of Claims Folders

   Several situations can cause a change in the jurisdiction of the claim and result
      in the transfer of that folder to another office. Some of these are as follows: A
      change in the beneficiary's mailing address and/or place of residence; the attainment
      of age 54 of a disabled beneficiary; the subsequent entitlement of another beneficiary;
      or subsequent entitlement of a beneficiary to another type of benefit. The actual
      transfer procedure is as outlined below.

   An overpayment or a request for reconsideration will be handled by the office having
      jurisdiction. If jurisdiction changes prior to completion of all actions, the office
      assuming jurisdiction will be responsible for the completion thereof. The transmittal
      form should be appropriately annotated to ensure that the office receiving the claims
      folder takes all proper action on the case.
