GN 01748.105 Danish Coverage Certification

A. Policy

The form displayed in the exhibit below is the only acceptable form for the certification of Danish coverage. Certifications in any other format should be forwarded to the Division of Training and Program Support for approval.

B. Description of the Danish earnings record

The Danish earnings record is a computer-generated form which lists a person’s coverage. The form has been converted for SSA to show quarters of coverage (QC) in column 7.

The fields are as follows:

    Year -Year worker made contributions

  3. 3. 

    SATS – Kinds of Contribution code (A, B, C or D) does not affect SSA

  4. 4. 

    Contributions - amount of contribution

  5. 5. 

    Contributions for Calculation – allowable contributions to be used for calculation

  6. 6. 

    Monthly Employment Factor

  7. 7. 

    QC Employment Factor – Conversion has been done for SSA (use this field) for quarters of coverage

  8. 8. 

    Year Employment Factor

  9. 9. 

    Monthly Standard Contribution

    Quarterly Standard Contribution

    1. a. 

      SSA does not accept code 600 (cash sickness benefits from municipality)

    2. b. 

      SSA does not accept code 610 (cash unemployment benefit)

D. Kinds of Danish coverage

The types of Danish coverage that may be on the Danish coverage record are:

  • Mandatory coverage based on work

  • Cash Sickness benefits from employer

  • Cash Sickness benefits from municipality (SSA does not accept code 610)

  • Cash Unemployment benefits (SSA does not accept code 600)

E. Additional coverage record information

The National Social Security Agency (NSSA) forwards all request for Danish earnings to the Labour Market Supplementary Pension (ATP) agency. This agency retrieves the earnings records requested and will forward to SSA only twice a month with any other information that was requested.

If a person living in the U.S. needs their own data from ATP it is still possible for the individual to contact ATP directly through www.atp.dk (direct secure mail) or by phone at + 011-45-4820-4923. Questions from the U.S. must include name and Danish CPR.NR (or date of birth). Information from ATP will be sent by mail including datasheet (Excel) which will include the name and the CPR number.

F. How ATP credits Danish contributions

  1. a. 

    Contributions

    Total contributions are paid per year. One line per type of contribution per year.

  2. b. 

    Deductions

    If the contribution includes type 600 or 610 it has to be divided by 2 (these contributions are paid in double – SSA does not recognize type 600 or 610).

  3. c. 

    Contribution for calculation

    This is the “cleared” contribution which the calculation is based upon.

  4. d. 

    Employment factor

    Months – amount of months (contribution for calculation is divided by the standard contribution per citizen)

    QCs – amount of quarters (number of months is divided by 4

    Year - amount of years (contribution for calculation is divided by 12 months.

    NOTE: ATP will do all calculations for SSA and convert all contributions to the “QC Employment Factor”.
