RS 00301.240 When a Calendar Quarter cannot be a Quarter of Coverage (QC)
A calendar quarter cannot be a QC when:
-
1.
Quarter previously established
Do not count a quarter as more than one QC.
-
2.
Individual dies
Do not count any quarter after the quarter in which an individual dies (consider wages
paid to the survivor, or number holder's (NH) estate in the quarter of death paid
to the NH and therefore, may yield a QC).
-
3.
Disability period exists
Except for the first and last such quarters, any quarter of which any portion is included
in a period of disability cannot be a QC. Such a period begins with the quarter of
onset and ends with the quarter in which the last disability payment is due. In the
case of a disability freeze, the period ends with the second month following the month
in which the disability ceases, as discussed in RS 00301.122.
-
4.
A future quarter exists
A future quarter is a quarter that has not yet commenced and; therefore, cannot be
a QC. Determine whether you should award or disallow the claim when the individual
meets insured status in a future quarter, following instruction in GN 00204.007C. and GN 01010.440A.2.
