RS 01602.604 Automated 101 (A101) and Electronic Form 101 (EF101) Entries for Railroad Retirement
Board Certification (RR Cert) Cases
Consider the following when preparing an A101 or EF101 for a RR Cert case:
-
1.
Never certify a lump-sum death payment (LSDP) to the Railroad Retirement Board (RRB).
Show the LSDP separately when awarding a survivor benefit certified to RRB. We certify
the LSDP to Treasury and the survivor benefit to RRB.
-
2.
Enter the applicable railroad code on the account data screen. For screen coding,
see MSOM MCS 014.003 (A101) or MSOM T2PE 009.006 (EF101).
-
3.
The Beneficiary Data screen contains a railroad certification field. The field propagates
to the A101, but requires coding on EF101. For additional information, see MSOM MCS
014.004 (A101) or MSOM T2PE 009.011 (EF101). NOTE: RR Cert may not apply to all beneficiaries
on the award.
-
4.
RRB has jurisdiction of HI/SMI in all cases certified to them and has responsibility
for deducting SMI premiums.
-
5.
To indicate jurisdiction for premium collection ensure that the railroad jurisdiction
field of the HI Data screen (HIDA of the A101 or EFHIDA of the EF101) contains appropriate
dates. For appropriate coding, see MSOM MCS 014.011 or MSOM T2PE 009.017.
