RS 01603.305 The RRCERT-SJD Alert

A. PROCESS

When... Then...
a primary beneficiary dies and there are survivors on the MBR, the primary beneficiary is terminated “T1“, the survivors are placed in suspense status (S9) and this information is transmitted to RRB along with a request to determine which agency will have jurisdiction of the survivor claim/benefit.
RRB receives the information and the request for a survivor jurisdiction determination, RRB determines which agency will process the survivor claim/ benefit and transmits the determination to the RRCERT AUDIT system via the survivor jurisdiction determination (SJDR) screen.
the RRCERT AUDIT system receives the survivor claim jurisdiction determination from RRB the RRCERT AUDIT system issues an RRCERT-SJD alert to the PC
the PC receives an RRCERT-SJD alert, the PC processes the survivor claim or sends claim information to RRB or terminates the survivor benefit (TO) (depending on which agency has jurisdiction of the survivor claim).

C. DESCRIPTION OF ALERT FIELDS

CN/BIC= The BICs of all persons for whom jurisdiction of his/her survivor benefit is in question.

NAME= The names of all beneficiaries for whom jurisdiction of his/her survivor benefit is in question.

JURIS AGCY= The agency, SSA or RRB, having jurisdiction of the survivor claim/benefit.
