DI 28090.070 Rationale Content - Statement of Residual Functional Capacity (RFC)
When medical considerations alone are not the basis for the determination on Title
II and adult Title XVI cases, the rationale must summarize the RFC findings as recorded
on the assessment form(s): SSA-4734-BK (Physical Residual Functional Capacity Assessment) or SSA-4734-F4-SUP (Mental Residual Functional Capacity Assessment). This statement must include specific
citations of the evidence supporting the RFC.
For physical impairments and limitations, the specific work-related findings must
establish the capacity to meet the strength and non-strength requirements of the various
ranges of work: sedentary, light, medium, heavy, and very heavy work.
For mental impairments and limitations, the specific work-related findings must establish
the capacity to meet the mental demands of different types of work.
