DI 32005.080 Disability Determination Services Reconsideration Title XVI-Only Reversal Routing – Paper Case Only

A. Appointed representative or representative payee

In all title XVI reconsideration reversals, where the claimant has an appointed representative or needs a representative payee, use the SSA-408 (Route Slip) to advise the Field Office (FO) to prepare and release a copy of the award notice to the representative. When the claimant has an appointed representative, instruct the FO to add the following to the original and all copies of the award notice: “A copy of this notice was sent to (name of appointed representative) on (date notice was released).”

B. Deferred development

If the initial SSA-831 (Disability Determination and Transmittal) is annotated “Deferred Development”, indicate “Deferred Case - Recon Reversal” on the SSA-408.
