DI 34201.005 Part B Listing of Impairments Prior to March 16, 1977 - Explanation

Title XVI benefits for children under age 18 began in January 1974. When this new category of recipients came into being, it was recognized that the Listing of Impairments then in effect (i.e., the portion now designated Part A) would not be appropriate in all cases for evaluating disability in children. The list in DI 34201.010 appeared in operating instructions on an interim basis until the Part B Listing of Impairments was published in regulations on March 16, 1977.
