Federal, State, and local law enforcement agencies provide SSA or OIG with warrant
information from their records to match against the SSR. After the data match and
OIG review, a listing of SSI recipients identified as fugitives or parole or probation
violators is returned to the law enforcement agencies. Upon receipt of this information,
each law enforcement agency will:
-
•
Determine if the warrant is still active;
-
•
Take all reasonable measures, including the use of photographs, to ensure that the
fugitive is the SSI recipient;
-
•
Maintain the confidentiality about the source of the information when attempting to
locate and apprehend the individual; and
-
•
Report back to OIG the results of their investigation.
