TN 4 (04-07)
The questions in Part III record information about the claimant's (and spouse's) resources.
Ask questions and obtain answers in Part III as of the first moment of the filing date (SI 00604.008A) month unless a different time period is specified for specific questions.
Record all property whether it is excluded or countable.
Consider that property can be tangible (buildings, land, equipment, etc.) or intangible (interest in an unprobated estate, mineral rights, etc.).
Consider that property also includes any assets owned that are located in a foreign country.
Record items even if the claimant or spouse shares ownership with someone else.
Record the information needed to decide the issue of principal place of residence pertinent to the home exclusion (see SI 01130.100). In addition to the current residence, there may be residential property or a mobile home which is owned or being paid for at the time of application.
Consider whether any of the resources are encumbered. If resources are encumbered, obtain the name and address (telephone number, if available) of the creditors for development.
NOTE: Information about a variety of owned property can be elicited by these questions. The development depends upon the issues raised.
Consider resources listed in Part III as leads to income.
