SI 01730.025 Effect of Institutionalization on Medicaid Eligibility

A. Background

Some States provide Medicaid coverage for patients in a medical facility who would be eligible for SSI payments if they left the facility (FLA D, E01). (See SI 01715.005B for a description of this optional Medicaid coverage.)

B. Policy

The State must make Medicaid eligibility determinations for these individuals.
