A beneficiary maintains Medicare appeal rights if the beneficiary is dissatisfied with a determination of the MA or 1876 cost plan regarding liability for services furnished or the plan's refusal to provide or arrange for Medicare covered services. The Medicare appeal process of an MA or 1876 cost member may no longer be initiated in the SSA offices, but must be initiated with the MA organization.
