Use this list to justify the need for a face-to-face interview:

                     The individual specifically requests a face-to-face interview.

                  • 
                     The individual has difficulty communicating over the telephone, understanding the
                        documented program explanations, or does not have access to the Internet.

                  • 
                     You anticipate a difficult or lengthy interview due to complexities; e.g., subsidized
                        pay (see DI 10505.010), SGA issues (see DI 10505.015), questionable retirement, or you require development for close or family corporations.
                      
 
 
- 
               
                  • 
                     The evidence you need is detailed or bulky (e.g., payroll books, ledgers, or receipts). 
 
 
- 
               
                  • 
                     The information in the file causes you to question the employer-employee relationship
                        (see RS 02101.865).
                      
 
 
- 
               
                  • 
                     The interview involves sensitive issues (e.g., law related, cancer, terminal or mental
                        illness) and there is no representative.

                  • 
                     Cases where validity of employment is in doubt, such as “family employment parents”
                        (see RS 02101.125).
                      
 
 
- 
               
                  • 
                     A continuing disability case where the Disability Determination Services (DDS) or
                        the Office of Disability and International Operations (ODIO) requests field office
                        (FO) assistance.

                  • 
                     Nonmedical or nonjudicial evidence of incapability of managing benefits (see GN 00502.030)
