The Office of Appellate Operations (OAO) is organized by workload
and includes:

Disability Processing Branches (process disability
claims),
•
Retirement and Survivors Insurance/Supplemental Security
Income Branch (processes non-disability claims),
•
Court Case Preparation and Review Branches (process
civil actions), and
•
Division of Oversight and Own Motion Review Branches
(process Appeals Council (AC) own motion reviews).
The preferred method for submitting a Request for Review to OAO
is by using the secure online process available at https://www.ssa.gov/benefits/disability/appeal.html.
Materials may also be submitted by fax to (833)
509-0817. For more information about requesting Appeals
