   RM 10205.075 Telephone Request for SSN Information Received in Non-Servicing Office
   
   
   
   When receiving a telephone request from someone outside your service area:
   
   
      - 
         
            • 
               Explain that another office serves their residence and may be more convenient.

            • 
               Do not refer the caller to another office without   his or her consent.

            • 
               Mail an SS-5, Application for a Social Security Card, to the caller with an unfranked
                  return envelope addressed to the servicing office (unless the caller specifies the
                  office he or she prefers to deal).
