In many communities, one or more Federal, State, or local agencies may provide I&R
services. When the field offices (FOs) identify the need for other services, the FOs
will still provide I&R for those services. It is likely that other agencies offering
I&R services may also provide other related services not provided by SSA including:

Various emergency services.
NOTE: The FO should contact and list all I&R agencies the same as other agencies listed
in the referral file.
In order for implementation to occur, information in the file should include agreements
reached with other agency officials along with instructions for the interviewers.
It is probable that some community agencies providing I&R services will have the expertise
and willingness to give more detailed information and advice to the interviewer upon
request by telephone. When this is the case, it may serve to improve FO service and
avoid arousing false hopes when there are no services of this type needed.
