RS 01702.574 Termination of Entitlement - Procedure (SSA/VA)

If a mother's (or father's) benefits terminates because a child under age 16 is not in care, reexamine the file to determine the widow(er)'s age. If the widow(er):

  • •

    is over age 60 (age 50 if disabled); or

  • •

    age 60 within 3 months, obtain a new application to certify the special payment to the VA.

If questioned, tell the claimant that we are developing the claims on behalf of the VA and that we will forward the information to the VA.
