NOTE: Since a disabled widow(er) must be disabled for 29 months (which includes the waiting
period plus the assumed 24 months entitlement to disability benefits) before the individual
can become entitled to hospital insurance benefits, there is no need to make a disability
determination through the current date, if a disability is alleged at or after age
62 years and 7 months. The disabled widow(er) will automatically become entitled to
hospital insurance benefits upon attainment of age 65 regardless of whether or not
she/he is disabled. In both of the above situations, insert “Age 62 years and 7 months.”
