DI 39518.020 Meal Costs at an Employee's Official Duty Station -- Operating Policy
   
   
   
   Payment Proper Under Certain Conditions 
   
   Payment for
         Meals or comparable reimbursement is a proper charge to SSA if:
         
   
   Working Overtime
         
   
   
      - 
         
            • 
               the meal tickets or reimbursement are provided for employees working OT
                     as a matter of law, regulation, or general practice in the State;
                
 
 
      - 
         
            • 
               the charge for meal costs is supported by a statement from the
                     administrative head of the agency or his or her designated representative;
                
 
 
      - 
         
            • 
               the statement authorizes the OT work; and
                
 
 
      - 
         
            • 
               the statement includes a reference to the applicable law, regulation, or evidence of State practice under which provisions for payments for
                  meals are made.
                
 
 
Attending Meetings
         
   
   
      - 
         
            • 
               the meals are part of a meeting;
                
 
 
      - 
         
            • 
               there is a specific provision in State law or published rules, regulations, or fiscal directives of the State for reimbursing
                  an employee for meals served at his or her official station;
                
 
 
      - 
         
            • 
               the employee is required to attend the meeting involving official business; and
                
 
 
      - 
         
            • 
               the charge for meals is supported by evidence of the official State law or published rule, regulation, or fiscal directive.
