Mathematica Policy Research (MPR) began actively recruiting and enrolling volunteers
for the Promoting Opportunity Demonstration (POD) in December 2017. MPR began enrollment
by mailing 10,000 recruitment packets over a three-month pilot phase to eligible Social
Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) beneficiaries. After the pilot phase, MPR continued
solicitation by mailing 25,000 recruitment packets per month for the remaining 11
months of enrollment.
MPR had a target population of 15,000 beneficiaries for all three POD groups (treatment
group 1, treatment group 2, and the control group).
The Disability Control File (DCF) automatically updated Start and Stop dates of participation
upon a beneficiary’s random assignment to a treatment group. The DCF did not update
for those randomly assigned to the control group.
Recruitment is now closed and beneficiaries may no longer be enrolled in POD.
