RM 01351.011 Correspondence Indicating Congressional, Presidential, Secretarial, or Commissioner Involvement

A. Introduction

Correspondence may be received in which the individual indicates that he/she has written or intends to write to a Congressman, the President, the Secretary, or the Commissioner. This may be accomplished by direct statement, “cc” annotation, or by enclosing a carbon copy of a letter to one of these officials.

B. Procedure — General

If an individual has written or intends to write to a Congressman, the President, the Secretary, or the Commissioner, forward the correspondence immediately to DEBS under cover of Form SSA-2543. Check box 8 (Other) and annotate “Sensitive Correspondence”.

C. Procedure — Subpoena is received

If a subpoena is received with or without an earnings request, forward immediately under cover of a Subpoena Transmittal to:

D. Procedure — Fraud determination made

If correspondence is received with or without an earnings request and if a determination of fraud is made, forward immediately under cover of a Fraud Transmittal to:

Office of Earnings and International Operations

Division of Earnings and Business Services

Earnings Adjustment Branch

PO Box 33026

Baltimore, MD 21290-3026
