You may receive some correspondence involving incorrect EINs. If you do, handle in
accordance with the procedure below.
Follow the instructions below:
Prepare a dictated letter informing the employer that the EIN he/ she gave is not
an EIN or is not assigned to him/her.
NOTE: Do not show the incorrect EIN anywhere in the letter.
Furnish the correct EIN and tell the employer to show it on all future correspondence
Prepare a dictated letter as in B.1. paragraph 1 and note above.
Tell them to resubmit their request with the exact name and address under which their reports are filed or their correct EIN if found.
