RM 05004.004 Furnishing Field Office (FO) Addresses - Process
|you need to tell the writer to contact a specific FO or you need to tell the writer that his/her correspondence has been referred to a specific office for handling (e.g., the incoming is a second request and the first request was sent to a FO) ||furnish a complete FO address, but not the FO name. |
NOTE: Do not mention the type of office (i.e., district or branch) in our letter. Refer to all offices as “Social Security Offices (SSO).”
EXCEPTION: When more than one type of office (e.g., program service center and a district office or branch office) is located at the same address, type of office may be used to avoid confusion.
|you need only to give a general reference to any SSO ||do not furnish the FO address. |
|it is obvious that contact with the FO would be a hardship, or the writer does not want to use FO, or OCRO is in a better position to answer questions||ask the person to write directly to us.|
