RM 05009.003 Determining Correspondence to be Sent Directly to State Agencies - Procedure
Forward letters addressed to State agencies through the parallel Field Office (FO)
unless the correspondence is of the type specified below:
replies to requests for information concerning missing SSN's, multiple SSN's, incorrect
SSN's, and/or earnings data
replies to requests concerning status of RSDI claims
communications of an emergency nature which must be handled directly with the agencies
routine correspondence to State officials, such as audit statements.
When it is necessary to forward a letter through the parallel FO, send it under cover
of a route slip (e.g., OF-41) or a covering memorandum when special instructions are
