GN 00307.420 Developing Evidence of Death in the PRC

A. Policy

A PRC death certificate, with the claimant's statement, is usually sufficient proof of death in an LSDP claim.

If the claim is for monthly benefits or an underpayment of more than $300, a statement is also needed about the claimant's basis for believing this is the correct date of death.

A certificate for a death before 1953 can never be more than a delayed registration.

B. Procedure

Develop for other evidence of death (see GN 00304.015) if there is a question about the date of death (and it is material to the claim) or the fact of death.
