Procedure – Birth, Marriage and Death Certificates

Marriage records are complete from August 1, 1957; records exist for marriages prior to this time if performed before a civil authority.

The French (from 1920) and the Italian (from 1873) Consulates in Tunis have records of the births of French and Italian citizens reported to them.

The Prelate of Tunis keeps records for all persons of the Catholic faith baptized in Tunisia.

Office of the Registrar (Bureau de l'Etat Civil) where the event occurred.

  1. a. 

    Birth and Death Certificates: 120 to 150 Millimes

  2. b. 

    Marriage Certificates: 120 to 500 Millimes
