A copy of the draft report is furnished to responsible State mental health officials.
After the State officials have had an opportunity to review and provide written comments
on the report, a final report will be issued and may be released for public distribution.
The onsite review reports have facilitated a useful exchange of representative payee
ideas between SSA and State mental health officials and have provided the facilities
with a greater awareness of SSA's representative payee policies. In addition, the
onsite review findings alert SSA to areas in which representative payee policies may
need to be revised.
