GN 01709.105 Effective Date of the U.S.-Swiss Agreement
The agreement with Switzerland became effective 11/1/80. A supplementary agreement that revised several provisions of the original agreement became effective 10/1/89.
Periods of U.S. and Swiss Social Security coverage a worker earned prior to 11/1/80 may be used to establish entitlement to U.S. Totalization benefits. However, the earliest possible entitlement to such benefits is 11/80.
