GN 01712.211 Providing Benefit Information for the Norwegian Agency

A. Policy

Norway needs to know about entitlement to and the amount of U.S. benefits for persons receiving Norwegian disability or survivors benefits. This information is supplied upon request and only if the beneficiary receives the same type of benefit from the U.S. that he receives from Norway. For example, if a person is receiving retirement benefits from the U.S. and widow's benefits from Norway, we will not provide information about the retirement benefit.

B. Procedure

The liaison Clerk should:

  • Complete Form SSA-2960-U2-NE Part III. The “Name”,
“Type of Benefit,” and “Awarded/Denied” blocks are self explanatory: If the claim was awarded, enter the date of entitlement to the first month a full benefit is payable in MM/YY format.

  • Enter the CURRENT monthly benefit amount.

  • If the Claimant has been terminated, no entry can be made in current monthly benefit amount, however, show the date of termination in MM/YY format.
