GN 01737.125 Eligibility for Greek Benefits Under the Agreement

A. Policy -General

The agreement provides that Greece will count a worker's U.S. coverage when determining eligibility for Greek benefits if the worker:

  • is not insured based on Greek coverage alone, and

  • has at least 300 days of Greek coverage.

B. Policy -Crediting U.S. coverage

Greece will credit 75 days of Greek coverage for each quarter of U.S. coverage. For example, where a person has 4 quarters of U.S. coverage in a year, Greece will credit 300 days of coverage for that year under the Greek system. (Under Greek law, 300 days of coverage is equivalent to one year.) However, Greece will not give credit for any days of coverage based on U.S. QC's if they are already days of coverage under Greek law.
