GN 01747.225 Requests for Status of Application for Danish Benefits

A. Introduction

When the Office of International Operations (OIO) forwards information about the Danish claim, certified copies of evidence, and a copy of the worker’s U.S. coverage record to Denmark, OIO personnel must complete the Modernized Development Worksheet (MDW) screen to show the type of claim, the date the claim was forwarded and that a notice was sent to the applicant.

B. Procedure

Take the following steps if the applicant contacts an SSA field office for the status of his or her claim for Danish benefits:

  1. Check the MDW screen to see if OIO has sent the claim to Denmark.

  2. If OIO has not completed the MDW screen, advise the applicant to write directly to OIO at the address shown in GN 01702.310C.

  3. If OIO has completed the MDW screen, advise the applicant to write directly to the Danish agency shown on the notice he or she received from OIO when the claim was forwarded.
