GN 01749.225 Requests for Status of Application for Czech Benefits

A. Introduction

When the Office of International Operations (OIO) forwards information about a Czech claim, certified copies of evidence, and a copy of the worker’s U.S. coverage record to the Czech Republic, the Benefit Earnings Technician (BET) completes the Modernized Development Worksheet (MDW) screen to show the type of claim, and the date the claim was forwarded. The system automatically generates a notice that the BET sends to the applicant.

B. If an applicant requests status of Czech claim

Take the following steps if an applicant contacts SSA for the status of his or her claim for Czech benefits:

  1. Check the MDW screen to see if OIO sent the claim to the Czech Republic.

If OIO has not completed the MDW screen, advise the Applicant to write directly to OIO:

    Social Security Administration
    OIO – Totalization
    P.O. Box 17769
    Baltimore, Maryland 21235-7769
  2. If OIO completed the MDW screen, advise the applicant to write directly to the Czech agency:

    Ceská správa sociálního zabezpeèení
    (Czech Social Security Administration)
    Krizová 25
    225 08 Praha 5
    CZECH REPUBLIC

Once we forward a Czech claim to the Czech Republic, we are unable to determine its status.
