GN 01751.225 Requests for Status of Application for Polish Benefits

A. OIO process for Polish claims

When the Office of International Operations (OIO) forwards information about the Polish claim, certified copies of evidence, and a copy of the worker’s U.S. coverage record to Poland, the Benefit Earnings Technician (BET) completes the Modernized Development Worksheet (MDW) screen to show the type of claim, and the date the claim was forwarded, and sends a notice to the applicant.

B. Procedure — Claimant contacts SSA for the Status of claim for Polish benefits

Take the following steps if the applicant contacts an SSA for the status of his or her claim for Polish benefits:

  1. Check the MDW screen to see if OIO has sent the claim to Poland.

  2. If OIO has not completed the MDW screen, advise the applicant to write directly to OIO at the address shown in GN 01702.310C.

  3. If OIO has completed the MDW screen, advise the applicant to write directly to the Polish agency shown on the notice he or she received from OIO when the claim was forwarded.
