GN 01753.025 Slovak Disability, Dependents, and Survivors Benefits Eligibility Requirements

A. Slovak full disability eligibility requirements

To qualify for full disability benefits, a worker must:

  • have at least a 70-percent reduction in capacity to work; and

  • meet the length of coverage requirement based on age at time of disability.

B. Slovak partial disability eligibility requirements

To qualify for partial disability benefits, a worker must:

  • have between a 41-69 percent reduction in the capacity to work; and

  • meet the length of coverage requirement based on age at time of disability.

NOTE: A person whose disability began prior to age 20 needs less than 1 year of coverage, while a person aged 45 or over needs at least 15 years of coverage.

C. Slovak survivors benefits eligibility requirements

To qualify for survivors benefits, the survivor and the deceased worker must meet certain conditions.

  1. 1. 

    For a person to qualify for survivors benefits, the deceased worker:

    • must have been receiving a benefit at the time of death; or

    • must have met all factors of entitlement at the time of death (except for age attainment); or

    • must have died as the result of a work related injury or disease.

  2. 2. 

    The following persons may be eligible for survivors benefits:

    • unmarried surviving spouse; and

    • children under age 26.

D. Administrative organization for the Slovak Republic

If a person wishes to obtain additional information about Slovak benefits, advise the individual that we cannot provide official information about Slovak benefits. Refer any questions about the social insurance system to the following address:
