RS 02001.505 Effective Date of U.S. French Agreement

A. INTRODUCTION

The agreement with France became effective on July 1, 1988.

B. POLICY PRINCIPLE

The agreement does not affect a worker's coverage prior to July 1, 1988. If a worker received earnings before July 1, 1988 that were dually covered, those earnings would be subject to social security taxes in both countries.
